Paul Spoelder - Grain Purchaser
As raw materials purchaser, Paul Spoelder is responsible for the basis of De Heus’s products. To be able to take the right decisions at the right moment, he needs to know the market inside out. It's the complexity of the market which he loves. All his work is about gathering knowledge. He may be purchaser, but he doesn't do much purchasing. He reads all the articles, reports and discussions that can indicate market movements and enable him to act at the right moment. The best batch for the best price.

Traineeship
Tim van der Vegt – Trainee Finance and Strategy/M&A
Having spent most of his childhood in Indiana (US) growing up on a large dairy farm, it may not come as a surprise to those close to Tim that he chose the traineeship at De Heus. When he and his family moved back to the Netherlands in 2014, Tim finished high school in Assen and decided to study Econometrics with a specialization in Quantitative Finance at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Among the many traineeships available for prospective starters, the traineeship at De Heus especially excited him.

Sustainability
Stimulating and enabling research
A consortium of companies within the Netherlands Association of the Animal Feed Industry, NEVEDI, and the animal production chain, in collaboration with Wageningen University, has developed a Livestock Research programme: Feed4Foodure. De Heus financially supports this programme. In fact, we fulfil a pioneering role in this. And we not only provide financial support, we also gladly share the use of numerous research facilities on our own research farms. Our objective is to make a substantial contribution to a sustainable and healthy livestock industry in the Netherlands. And together, to reinforce our competitive position on the global market. Feed4Foodure focuses on three areas of research:

Our people
Sanna Jordens - Integrity & Compliance Manager
Every country in which De Heus operates has its own cultural values. This produces complex and interesting issues. Which is exactly what Sanna enjoys. Sanna loves challenges and sees in everything a possibility to reflect on what can be improved. "I am fascinated by people's behaviour, why they do what they do and what drives them. Once you know what motivates someone, you know how best to approach them and what you need to do - if necessary - to change that behaviour."
